Doug is a native Idahoan who began his academic journey at the University of Idaho, where his role as a student athletic trainer sparked a lifelong passion for physical therapy and sports medicine. He later transferred to the University of Colorado, where he completed his physical therapy degree.
After graduation, Doug co-founded the Denver Sports Medicine Clinic, focusing on athletic injury treatment and prevention. He worked closely with local schools, providing injury care and educating coaches and the community on athletic injury management. Doug also had the opportunity to serve as a consultant for the Denver Broncos, assisting their athletic training staff with practice and game coverage.
In 1982, Doug and his family relocated to Boise, where he joined the team at Saint Alphonsus Physical Therapy Institute (SAPTI). His practice expanded to include general orthopedics, with particular interest in treating extremities such as the foot, ankle, knee, and shoulder.
Doug and his wife, Terrie, have two grown daughters and four granddaughters. His youngest daughter followed in his footsteps and is also a physical therapist, practicing in Pullman, WA.
With 50 years of experience in the field, Doug finds joy and fulfillment in his work each day. Physical therapy remains a rewarding and dynamic profession that continues to inspire him.
